Bathrooms are second only to kitchens for adding value to a house. At the very least a good looking bathroom with make your home more sellable.

So definitely a worthwhile and fun project.

Bathrooms are often on the list for a DIY project as they are normally smaller rooms that people think they can handle. But it is wise to really research every aspect of the room before you tackle major renovations. Good preparation is a key factor, and a bathroom is one of the worst rooms to have half done for any amount of time.

Bathrooms can easily be upgraded. I'm not all that handy, but I've tackled a 'john' or two in my day.

Start with easy stuff like towel racks. New bath tub grout makes it look clean.

Re-tiling is a bit of a job, but it sure looks nice! Of course, you could install a fiberglass enclosure to take care of it all in one clean sweep!

Bathroom renovations can look great when you do them right. Always pay close attention to what you're doing to make sure you don't mess up. I've seen a few that were just horrible.

I suppose there are bits of DIY renovations that can be done by most people, but remember allot of tasks need specialists to perform the jobs to get them right first time.

Always research how to do the job correctly before getting stuck into DIY renovations.

I did a lot of research before deciding to call Newton Plumbing, a local Los Angeles plumber. I talked with them for almost 20 minutes on the pro's and con's of DIY. What it came down to was that it would've been too expensive to buy all the tools and materials myself, so they ended up doing the work for a pretty reasonable cost. If you already have the tools, it would be worth it. At least I didn't have to worry about if I was going to mess it up or not!
